Sialkot ASO seizes worth Rs150000 Indian cloths

SIALKOT: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot has confiscated smuggled Indian origin cloths worth Rs150000 on during vehicles’ checking under the Kashmir Transit Trade Agreement.

Under the direction of Assistant Collector and Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Incharge, Superintendent of ASO Sardar Manzoor Ahmed Khan constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Ali Hassan to check the vehicles on Grand Trunk Road Gujrat to curb smuggling. The said Inspector along with his team started checking vehicles. During the checking, the team intercepted a Mazda Van with registration No: MRA-321 (AJK) which was coming from Bhimber and going to Sialkot.

The team started the checking of van and recovered Smuggled Indian origin cloths. The team asked Driver Ghulam Rasool about documents of customs paid duty but he failed to prove anything. The driver told the team that he is just a driver of van and cloths were loaded from the van stand of Bhimber. The team confiscated the cloths and shifted the item to the store room of the MCC Sialkot.

The team has registered a case under Section 157/158 of customs bylaws. The team will also issue a legal notice to the Manager of van stand. The team released the driver after proper interrogation.
