DG Valuation revises customs value of almond through Valuation Ruling 1037/2017

Faisalabad ASO confiscates non duty paid almonds

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO), Faisalabad, has seized 11938 kilograms of foreign origin almonds worth Rs 25,00,000 involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 5,93,780.

Sources told  Customs Today, that an ASO team intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration No, SEA-637 near Jhang Road and recovered foreign origin almonds packed in jute bags of Afghanistan brands. The officials asked the accused who was later identified as Abdul Ghani to show documents regarding its legal import, but he failed.  After his failure ASO team impounded the truck loaded with almonds under Section 168; Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 90 (i) of the Custom Act, 1969.

The ASO team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Ali Zahid, Mahmood Ahmad Dogar, Khalid Ashraf Noor and Sepoys Muhammad Dilawar, Muhammad Khalid Dogar and others, participated in the raid.

After a considerable passage of time the owners of the confiscated dry fruit showed willingness to pay taxes after which the case has been sent to the adjudication for further legal action.
