Sources told Customs Today that Hyderabad Collector Agha Shahid Majeed Khan received a tip-off regarding the non-duty paid different cigarettes. He immediately constituted a team under the supervision of Additional Collector Rehmatullah Vistro to confiscate the smuggled items.
The team comprised Customs Preventive Sukkur Superintendent Ghulam Shabbir Phuputo, Inspectors Nasrullah Jilal, Ayaz Ali Shah, Abdul Wahab Sheikh, Muhammad Jurial Abbasi, Agha Nazir Ahmed, Sepoys Shabbir Ahmed Thebo, Iqbal Sheikh, Hawaldar Mehram Ali, Driver Manzoor Shori and others. The team intercepted a vehicle near checkpost of Jacobabad-Larkana-Sukkur and recovered the said items.
Prior to the recovery of contraband goods, the ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents of the import and possession of goods but he failed to prove anything legal, so the customs seized the items under customs bylaws.
After making a seizure report, the ASO team deposited the confiscated goods into Sukkur State Warehouse.
