Superintendent Waqar Cheema says directorate adopts zero tolerance against smuggling

Official sources told Customs Today that on information of Director Zulfiqar Younas, the Customs Intelligence team intercepted a mini truck on the outskirt of the city and recovered non-customs paid goods and article including trolley bags, hand/shoulder bags, tea cups & pine lights brand cigarettes from the Mazda mini truck.

The non-customs paid items were tactfully hidden in the truck in order to save them from the eyes of the law enforcing agencies.

The sources said that the customs authorities demanded legal clearance documents from the owner of the truck, however, he failed to produce anything against the loaded goods and articles, thus the, customs authorities confiscated the goods at the spot.  The CIF value of the case is reported at Rs4,876,000/.

The Customs I&I team led by superintendent Waqar Ahmad Cheema operated while Inspector Sohail Murtaza and others staff of customs authorities were also part of the raiding team.

Superintendent Waqar Ahmad Cheema told Customs Today that in order to curb smuggling Directorate General  Customs Intelligence & Investigations has passed strict instructions to all the anti-smuggling staff of the directorate to curb smuggling from inside of the city and around it.

He added that Customs I&I Lahore has adopted zero tolerance against every kind of smuggling under its limits.
