Multan customs has pending rewards of Rs25.5m for ‘informers’

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office have pending rewards of Rs25.5million for various anti-smuggling activities in the Jurisdiction.

The Federal Board of Revenue has deprived the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office of their performance rewards since 2012 to 2016 due to dearth of sufficient finances. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office seized almost billions of various smuggled goods and vehicles during this period.

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has announced monetary rewards for employees and officers on their exceptional performance to motivate them for the elimination of smuggling from the region.

The Federal Board of Revenue has not disbursed the performance rewards among the officers. Amid abnormal delays in giving rewards has also directed their field directorate to protect the identity of informers and employees in seized consignments at all costs.

Deputy Collector Abdul Mueed Kanjoo has forwarded the lists of employees and Officers to Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation for their pending rewards.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has earned Rs350million from recovery through the auction of non-customs paid vehicles and goods in the region to curb smuggling.

The pending reward money will be given on the seized consignments and vehicles in their various anti-smuggling operations.
