SHC adjourns hearing of tiles case for two weeks

KARACHI: An appellate bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed allowed a request by counsel for Pakistan Customs and put off hearing of a Special Customs Reference Application (SCRA 497/2016) for two weeks.

The Collectorate of Customs filed the SCRA against RAK Trading Company, importers of tiles from China etc. The law point involved in the SCRA is that whether the respondent/importer is not liable to pay duties, taxes as per correct and lawful assessment made in terms of Valuation Ruling determined under section 25-A of the Customs Act 1969.
