Sialkot Customs seizes Indian fruits worth Rs4m from GT Road

SIALKOT: The special teams of the Sialkot Customs have seized as many as two dubious trucks packed with the smuggled Indian fruits during a special checking at G.T.Road here.

According to the senior customs officials, these smuggled seasonal Indian fruits having worth of Rs4 million were being supplied to the local fruits’ markets.

Customs officials have also arrested the two accused drivers of the vehicles who were later identified as Maqsud Ahmed and Muhammad Yaqub of these impounded trucks. Further investigations were underway, in this regard.

Meanwhile, the special teams of Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) have sealed as many as 15 housing societies in Gujranwala division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts here.

Deputy Commissioner PRA Gujranwala Zaka Ula, these housing societies sealed due to non-payment of their prolonged pending taxes, in this regard.
