Customs ASO impounds Rs144m non-duty paid vehicles, items

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization registered cases of Rs144.18 million during July-March financial year 2017.

Sources told Customs Today that on the directions of the Chief Collector Central Region Zeba Hai Azhar and Collector of Customs Preventive Ch Zulfiqar Ali in order to curb the menace of smuggling in Lahore, have ordered to accelerated anti smuggling operations by instructing all the field forces to adopt zero tolerance against the smugglers.

As per details the ASO during the month of March,2017 registered 22 cases of fire cracker, cigarettes, LED TVs, curtain cloth, soft juice, CTP printing plates, tyres, Toyota Crown car, Mitsubishi Pajero and electric motors were seized, value of these seized items is Rs.38.65 million.

Similarly the ASO made cases of Rs144.18 million during July-March financial year 2016- 2017.

It was reported that keeping view the strict instructions of the Chief Collector and Collectorate ASO have registeredmore 12 cases valuing Rs.11.02 million which were detained during first week of April 2017.

Sources said that the Collector Preventive Zulfiqar Ch has passed strict instruction to all the ASO staff to do their best to create deterrence to curtail the menace of smuggling.
