1104 vehicles impounded in road checking campaign

KARACHI: As many as 1104 vehicles were impounded out of 24,673 vehicles checked during the road checking campaign against the tax defaulting vehicles which was launched performed on March 20 to April 03 across Sindh.

It was said by Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla while chairing a meeting at his office here on Thursday, said a statement.

Secretary ET&NC Abdul Haleem Shaikh and Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the meeting. While briefing the meeting, DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui told that in Karachi 12758, in Hyderabad 4517, in Sukkur 2487, in Larkana 1875, in Mirpurkhas 2423 and in Shaheed Benazirabad 1845 vehicles were checked.

It was further stated that during the campaign 1104 vehicles were impounded, the documents of 2718 vehicles were seized, however having got the due taxes and penalties, the documents of 1897 vehicles werereleased.

Chawla expressed his satisfaction that during Road Checking Campaign Rs 7718527 in term of tax, Rs 4935472 in term of withholding tax while Rs 1206159 in term of penalties were collected. He expressed hope that the officers would continue their duties in the same spirit in future as well.
