ISLAMABAD: Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib and Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Dr. Arslan Subuctageen briefed about role, functions and operational aspects concerned with the public service delivery to the 12 member group of 21st Senior Management Course organized for senior civil officers of BPS-19 from various groups, the said members visit MCC today on 5th April 2017.
According to details the Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib told the visiting officers in her welcoming remarks about the stretcher and jurisdictions of North Region and the working of Chief Collector North office.
After chief collector welcoming speech the collector presented a comprehensive presentation, during presentation the collector told the participants about history and jurisdiction of Collectorate of Islamabad and at the end of meeting the shields were exchange and a group photo was captured.
The collector Dr.Arslan told in his presentation that the Collectorate of Customs Rawalpindi was established in 1981, the jurisdiction was districts of Attock, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Islamabad and Northern areas of Gilgit Baltistan adding that the Collectorate made rename as Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad in 2009, he said that in 2013 an independent Model Customs Collectorate was curved out from MCC Islamabad.
During his presentation the Collector MCC Dr.Arslan said that Islamabad Collectorate has 609 numbers of human capitals including BS-20, BS-19, BS-18, 17 and 16 as for as sepoys and other ranks adding that main function of the Collectorate is to optimize revenue collection as far as to facilitate legitimate trade and to curb the menace of smuggling.
The Collector said that Collectorate have three major Customs stations as Islamabad Dry port, Air Freight Unit and Benazeer Bhatoo International Airport (accompanied Baggage section), Dr.Arslan told in his presentation regarding Major Imports and Exports via Dry port and AFU Islamabad. He also throws light on Annual target assigned by Federal Board of Revenue to the MCC Islamabad during FY2016-17.
Regarding Anti Smuggling initiatives he said that Collectorate had enhanced Anti smuggling efforts, increased number of staff and vehicles adding that the MCC also inducted fresh human resource where as the Collectorate made a liaison with Motorway Police, National Highway Authority and local Police for joint seizers.
