Customs ASO seized goods and Hino truck in worth of Rs11.5m

ISLAMABAD: Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized Indian made Cashew nuts (Kaju), dry batteries, foreign origin welding rods and booster batteries along with offending vehicle under worth of Rs11.5 million.

According to details that the ASO squad was on its routine patrolling when one of Inspector Asif intercepted a Hino tuck bearing registration number GLTA-3286 and asked the possessor to show the relevant documents of loaded goods, the possessors of smuggled goods unable to produced any proof against loaded goods, after that the ASO staff seized the goods and bring the goods to State Warehouse.

The sources said that the seized goods were comprises as number of 1000 of foreign origin welding rods, 120 kilogram of Indian made Cashew nuts, 24 dry batteries, 04 number of Booster batteries and 04 number of Radio batteries, the estimated value of goods is Rs1.5 million whereas the estimated value of offending Hino vehicle was Rs10 million.

The sources said that FIR has been logged against the offenders and further investigation is in under process with Investigation and prosecution department, the Collector Dr. Arslan made a appreciation call to Inspector Asif for made a good seizer, sources further told that the seized truck was coming from Gilgit and was going to Rawalpindi when the ASO staff seized it near Carriage Factory (Rawalpindi).
