ISLAMABAD: Special Advisor to Prime Minister for Revenue Haroon Akhter and the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Dr. Muhammad Irshad have assured the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) that issues of refunds will be resolved soon.
An APTMA delegation met Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman FBR Dr. Muhammad Irshad under the leadership of Senior Vice Chairman of APTMA Zahid Mazhar at FBR House Islamabad and exchanged views regarding the matter of refunds and budget proposals.
Member Operations Inland Revenue, Member Policy Dr. Muhammad Iqbal and Member Customs Zahid Khokhar also attended the meeting. According to sources, APTMA has demanded more concessions in power tariff in coming budget.
During the meeting, Senior Vice Chairman Zahid Mazhar said the government should take measures to enhance exports by 10 percent of the GDP. The overall exports have dropped by $5 billion while the textile industry worth $4 billion has been closed due to its in-competitiveness,” he pointed out. He has urged in the meeting to withdraw Rs 3.63 surcharge on electricity tariff. Haroon Akhtar again assured the delegation that government will help and extend cooperation to textile sector.
