Commissioner Inland Revenue moves SHC against M/s State Life Insurance in tax matter

KARACHI: The Commissioner Inland Revenue-III Large Taxpayers Unit has approached the Sindh High Court (SHC), challenging impugned judgment of the appellate tribunal in favour of M/s State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan in a tax matter.

During the hearing of the case, counsel for the petitioner stated that tax authorities issued a show case notice to the company for recovery of due amount. However, being aggrieved, the company approached the appellate tribunal which decided the appeal in its favour without showing any lawful ground and without mentioning any lawful reason.

Citing M/S State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan as respondent, counsel for the applicant pleaded the court may declare that order of the appellate tribunal as illegal, mala fide and arbitrary.

The Commissioner Inland Revenue-III Large Taxpayers Unit also pleaded the Sindh High Court (SHC) may set aside impugned judgment of the appellate tribunal and restore its order.
