ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ruled out to introduce amnesty scheme for the owners of offshore companies.
Refuting a news item published in an English daily, a senior FBR official, seeking anonymity, said that no law is being introduced to give amnesty to protect the offshore assets of the owners and a news in this regard published in an English newspaper is not correct.
However, Tax Reforms Commission Chairman Masood Naqvi and his two member colleagues Ishfaq Toala and Shahban during the meeting of implementation committee had presented proposal that government should announce tax amnesty for overseas Pakistanis to protect their offshore assets, he said.
“Neither FBR nor Finance Ministry is preparing any draft in this regard, he said, adding that no work was being done on it in FBR.
