Quetta Customs I&I foils smuggling attempts, seizes plastic dana, mobiles phones

KARACHI: The directorate general of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Quetta has foiled smuggling attempts and recovered crystal white plastic dana and smart phones in two different operations.

Two accused were nabbed in these operations. Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Junaid received a tip-off regarding transportation of smuggled goods to Afghanistan. He immediately called up a special team to curb the smuggling attempt.

The customs team comprising of Deputy Collector Imran Baloch, Hakim Ali, Safdar Mehmood, Shamim Qaisar and Imran Farooqi raided shop No: R-345 in Kerani. The customs team recovered 50 sacks of crystal white plastic dana from the shop.

The customs team seized plastic dana sacks and nabbed one accused who was identified as Rana Nawaz from the shop and registered a case against the accused.

Meanwhile, in another operation, Deputy Collector Anti Smuggling Imran Baloch along with Hakim Ali, Safdar Mehmood, Shamim Qaisar and Imran Farooqi, raided another shop in mobile market in Regi. The owner of the shop, who was identified as Asghar, resisted against the search of his shop but customs officials keenly searched the shop and recovered 80 non-duty paid smart phones.

The customs officials asked the shop keeper to provide documents regarding legal import of the mobile phones but he remained failed to provide any required documents.

After his failure, the customs officials seized non-duty paid mobiles, registered a case of smuggling against the accused and arrested the shop keeper for further investigations.
