RTO-I collected Rs 3,992m during first 10 days of April

KARACHI: The regional tax office (RTO-I) collected Rs3,992 million in first 10 days of April. The RTO-I collected Rs 3,910 million income tax and Rs 82 million sales tax in the said period.

Additional Commissioner Inland Revenue (IR) Malik Waqar told Customs Today that all RTO-I’s are trying hard to achieve their assigned revenue target. Waqar said that due to refund the overall tax collection has remained less than expected. “Whereas advance tax will also be received after 15 April”, he added.

In response to a question Malik Waqar said that “we are all set to put 4,000 people into tax net this year.” This will be done by the end of the current month, he added.

Additional Commissioner said that the FBR surpassed its target of March with Rs 30 million and it is expected that the RTO-I will collect Rs 7,200 million by the end of the current month.

During first six months of the current fiscal year the overall collection of RTO-I was Rs 1,621 billion whereas in the same period of previous fiscal year the RTO-I collection was Rs 1,531 billion.

So far, FBR has collected Rs 656 billion income tax, Rs677 billion sales tax, Rs91 billion federal excise duty and Rs 244 billion customs duty in this period.
