KARACHI: Gwadar Customs, during its ongoing crackdown against smuggling, has seized about 1,000-liter of Iranian smuggled high speed diesel.
Collector Feroz Alam Junejo, on a tipoff, that huge quantity of Iranian-origin high speed diesel would be smuggled on a passenger bus, formed a raiding team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Kaleemullah and Superintendent Muhammad Saleem Khokhar.
After severe road checking and continuous vigilance on RCD Highway, the team stopped a passenger bus coming from Makran at Khurkhera Mobile Post but the driver accelerated its speed. The Customs staff chased the vehicle and found it parked near the road. The driver of the bus managed to flee.
The search of the bus resulted into recovery of 10,000 liters of Iranian smuggled high speed diesel in different tanks in the coach. The market value of the seized HSD is Rs0.6 million.
