IMO confiscates 330g heroin concealed in soles of shoes

ISLAMABAD: The International Male Office (IMO) seized 330 grams of heroin concealed in shoes’ soles. The drug was detected at General Post Office (GPO), International Mail Office (IMO), Chaklala. The seized heroin was shipped for Netherlands. The seized heroin was booked from Peshawar.
According to Assistant Collector IMO Ali Asad, the customs IMO staff found a suspicious parcel and informed the assistant collector of it. The staff opened the parcel and found the pure quality of heroin which was concealed in shoes’ soles.
The customs staff has lodged an FIR against the smuggler and raids are being carried out to arrest the smugglers.
Telling about the details of the narcotics cases intercepted during the first nine months (July to March) of current Financial Year (FY) at IMO Islamabad, he stated that most of the narcotics registries and parcels were booked for UK, USA, Canada, Netherlands, and China.
The parcels’ dispatchers belonged to KP, AJK, Gujar Khan, Islamabad and Haripur.The smugglers concealed consignments of heroin in the stitching linings of children’s jackets, did drugs in the cavities made in the hard bindings of books, play cards, embroideries of suits, power banks and concealed heroin powder inside the cavities of books and shoes soles. The customs staff of the Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad deputed at the IMO seized the tailored cases.
