Car cell impounds NDP vehicle worth Rs02.32m

ISLAMABAD: The Special Car Cell of the Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Federal Board of Revenue Islamabad, has impounded a non-duty-paid smuggled vehicle Toyota Mark X CIF valued Rs2.32million.

On a tip-off, the staff of the Special Car Cell intercepted the said vehicle with registration No: BEQ 388 Sindh. The vehicle was possessed by Muhammad Atif s/o Muhammad Zahid r/o Doctors Colony, Islamabad. When the car cell demanded the legal documents of the vehicle, the possessor failed to produce any documents or proof of legal purchase of the vehicle except a registration book. After the initial investigation, car was impounded under section of the Customs Act-1969 for further verification of its import status and payment of duty and taxes.
