Faisalabad customs seizes items valued Rs28m in second week of April

FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs28million involving duty and taxes of Rs12million besides impounding offending vehicles worth Rs04million in different anti-smuggling activities during the second week of April 2017.

Officials said the Customs Intelligence conducted operations on the instruction of Assistant Director Ittrat Hussain against the smuggled goods and vehicles in different areas of its jurisdiction including Sargodha, Khushab and Faisalabad.

The teams confiscated smuggled goods including Indian origin grey fabrics (14500-kg) worth Rs06million Toyota Coaster (20-Seater) worth Rs06.5 miscellaneous goods worth Rs01.5million, cotton polyester fabrics (18880-kg) worth Rs09.1million and chiffon grey cloth (16131-kg) worth Rs06.1million after the accused could not produce documents regarding the legal import of the items.

The seizures have been referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
