FIA seizes counterfeit drugs, arrests distributor

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has busted a racket involving sale of unregistered and counterfeit drugs and arrested a distributor from near the Denso Hall.

The raid was conducted at a shop number 27 of the medicine market, near the Denso Hall. The spokesman for FIA Sindh said that a complaint was received from Provincial Drug Inspector Karachi-II Zakir Hussain Samoo regarding Muhammad Tahir Khokhar’s involvement in sale and distribution of spurious, sub-standard and unregistered drugs and anti-biotic life saving injections of ‘Sonnet and Dayline 1g I.V’ in the local market.

A case was registered and assigned to Inspector Ali Hassan Zardari.

A raid was conducted after the enquiry officer’s sources deployed at the shop revealed that Khokhar was present in the vicinity of Katchi Gali for supply of injections.

The recovered injections were seized on form-3 by the drug inspector while samples were also drawn on form-2 for lab tests. Further investigations are underway.
