PFA seals two juice factories, 40000 juice packs, 45000 litres raw material seized

MULTAN: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Friday sealed two juice factories in Multan on charge of preparing substandard juice under an unhealthy formula without even utilizing fruit.

PFA director Rafia Haidar said in a statement that one juice factory was sealed at BCG Chowk that was preparing counterfeit product of a popular foreign brand. She said that 18,000 juice packets and 30,000 litres raw material was seized.

Another juice factory was sealed at stadium road from where 22000 juice packs and 15000 litres raw material was recovered.

DG PFA Noorul Amin Mengal has ordered to destroy the juice packets and raw material.

Two other food points were sealed on unhygienic conditions. A sum of Rs 3000 fine was imposed on Children hospital canteen while another Rs 10000 fine was imposed on a restaurant.

PFA team also ordered a number of milk shops, groceries, sweet shops, Pan shops and a big marriage hall to improve cleanliness situation.
