LHC seeks reply from FBR on petition filed by owner of seized skimmed milk

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a reply from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) till May 2 in a case of milk smuggling from America. The milk was seized by the customs authorities due to tax evasion.

According to details, Justice Muzamil Akhter Shabir heard the case filed by Malik Zahid. During the proceeding, the counsel for the appellant argued that customs authorities impounded 9349 packets of dry milk illegally. The milk was imported from America legally.

Attorney general told to the court that the appellant evaded million of rupees through dry milk smuggling. Adding more the appellant imported milk packets from America and put his own label on the packet illegally. He stated that the case is already being heard in Supreme Court of Pakistan, so Lahore High Court (LHC) cannot hear the case.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, Lahore High Court seeks written reply from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) till May 2 and case has been adjourned till next hearing.
