PINUM hospital needs urgent attention of Punjab govt

FAISALABAD: PINUM hospital established by Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission is serving the patients of Faisalabad since 1996. But the patients are unable to get the treatment due to lack of basic facilities, said Dr. Muhammad Saeed Akhtar Director PINUM hospital while addressing to the members of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry(FCCI) here. He said that despite of the fact that land has been allocated by local administration for laying the foundation of new PINUM hospital yet allotment orders by the chief Minister of Punjab are pending.

He said & added that regardless of the modern era, the cancer patients of Faisalabad have to travel all the way to Karachi or Lahore for their treatment. We are striving to a hospital enriched with all the facilities and modern technology to the patients, So that they could get timely treatment. In this regard, Director PINUM hospital requested the President & members of FCCI to bring this issue into the kind notice of the government.

Continuing, he said that PINUM manages the expenses of 80% patients on its own. However, Bait-ul-Maal aids us to manage our expenses. He hoped that fund would be raised for our PINUM hospital from the platform of FCCI..

He said and added that due to poverty & illiteracy, the people here are usually shy due to which a number of women are unable to get treatment. He said and added that the lady doctors of PINUM hospital are actively playing their role to aware the women about the deadly disease of breast cancer that the disease could be diagnosed in time and could lead a healthy life.

He further told that FCCI former President Mian Hanif arranged setup of Radio Therapy Department in 2002, but still the signing of MOU for construction of this department & installation of Radio Therapy machine is awaited for the approval of Chief Minister. He requested the FCCI to personally take up this issue, PINUM hospital could also be enriched with all necessary facilities.

He further described that there are two more PINUM hospitals, one in Lahore & other in Karachi which are furnished with the facility of Radio Therapy but Faisalabad which comprises of 8 million populations is deprived of this facility and the patients have to travel towards these two cities for their treatment which is not possible for lower class. Further, he said that a delegation of 23 foreigners and 20 officers from all over Pakistan are going to visit Faisalabad next month and he wants to depict a true picture of Faisalabad as the Manchester of Pakistan, which requires the corporation of business community of Faisalabad.

Appreciating the efforts of Dr. Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, President FCCI Engr. Muhammad Saeed Sheikh said that the services of PINUM hospital in treating cancer are indescribable. He further said that the meritorious services of Director PINUM concerning diagnosis and treatment are appreciable. President FCCI assured Dr. Muhammad Saeed Akhtar of full cooperation. He said that all politicians would be called upon for a meeting at the platform of FCCI in order to sort out the matter of delay in construction of New PINUM hospital at Jhumra Road.

 

Further, Chaudhry M. Nawaz and Aslam Bhalli also took part in question answers session. Later senior Vice President Rana Sikandar Azam offered vote of thanks.
