FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization has seized 360 pieces of foreign origin auto parts along with a carrier vehicle under the U/S 157 Custom Act in Sargodha city. The market value of the seized auto parts and vehicle is Rs01.7million including customs duty and taxes of Rs206800.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Rana Falik Shair received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of foreign origin auto parts. Soon after receiving the information, he constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspectors Bashir Ahmed, Malik Atif Mumtaz and Sepoys Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal, Hafiz Nasir Ahmed, Shafqat Mehmood and Muhammad Mansha.
The ASO team conducted a raid over the Motorway’s Salam Interchange Sargodha and intercepted a Suzuki Carry with registration No: BV-238 (Islamabad) loaded with smuggled auto parts. The parts are of India including 360 pieces of air-filters, fuel-filters, FP diesel, gas-kits, pump ITRs, piston MTC3102, pump-3513, -oil-filters and other items. The parts were being transported from Taxila to Sargodha.
The officials asked the accused, identified as Shahid Iqbal son of Abdul Qayum, a resident of Sargodha, to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of auto parts but he failed to do what was required from him.
The team seized the parts and registered a case against the accused.
