LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling extended the date of hearing of a case of gold smuggling as the court was to frame the charge against the accused.
He was arrested by the customs authorities from the Lahore Airport.
Sources told Customs Today that suspect, Ibrar Islam, was apprehended by the customs preventive from the Allama Iqbal International Airport while he was travelling for Muscat. During a search of his luggage, the customs officials found 550 gram of gold that he was trying to smuggle into the gulf state. The customs registered a case against Ibrar and seized the gold.
The customs investigation and prosecution presented him before the customs court and sought his physical remand that the court approved for three days.
The authorities have registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
