MIANWALI: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has confiscated foreign origin dates along with vehicle worth Rs5766000 involving customs duty and taxes Rs6,97,069 during an action.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Usman Traiq received a tip off that smuggled items were being smuggled in Mianwali without payment of duty and taxes on which he formed a team.
The ASO team intercepted a 10 wheeler Hino truck bearing registration no: K-4803 (Peshawar) which was coming from Peshawar to near Chandni Chowk M.M Road and recovers Yas Irani dates (10680 kilograms), Irani Rubt Muzafati (3440 kilograms), Irani Yaqhut Muzafati (4320 kilograms).
The team asked truck driver Khawa Jan son of Zahir Khan to produce documents regarding legal import of the items. He showed a copy of GD No: 14528 dated 13-04-2017 along with bility no: 662 of truck Adda Malakandi Union Transport Goods Company Quetta. The description of foreign origin dates has not tallied with loaded goods.
Therefore, ASO Mianwali seizes items under section 16 and 18 of the Customs Act 1969. The team impounded the items besides registering a case against him.
The raiding party comprises, Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafri, Amir Mumtaz Bajwa, and Sepoys Faiz Ahmad, Sher Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.
