Judicial remand of three accused in Rs30million cloth smuggling extended

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent three accused to jail on the extension of a judicial remand of 14 days in smuggling of Indian made Saris.

Three accused named Sajjad Qureshi, Abdul Sattar and Hammad Ahmad were arrested by the customs authorities when they were trying to smuggle a big number of Indian made saris. Investigation team of customs preventive produced them before the court of Shakeel Ahmad and asked for a three-day physical remand. On request of the investigation team, customs court handed them over to the investigation team for further investigation.

During the hearing of the case, accused Sajjad Qureshi asked for pardon from the court and said this is their first mistake. The customs court, after hearing both parties, approved a 14-day judicial remand of three accused and remanded them to jail.

The Customs Preventive had registered the case against the accused.
