Customs Court issues arrest warrant with warning for alleged smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has issued an arrest warrant for a suspect wanted in a smuggling case.

According to details, Muhammad Amir Saleem alias Mitho son of Muhammad Saleem, a resident of Garhi Maharaja, district Jhang, was issued with many notices to appear before the court for hearing.

But he did not take the notices seriously therefore the customs court has issued a warrant with a warning to appear before the court within 30 days otherwise he will be declared a Proclaimed Offender.

Muhammad Amir is wanted by Customs Faisalabad in a case No: 35/15 against smuggling.

Meanwhile, the Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling on Thursday heard 13 cases including pre-arrest bail pleas filed by suspects. Most of the cases were adjourned without any proceedings as the parties and lawyers concerned did not appear before the court.

Hearing of a pre-arrest bail plea filed by an accused Salman was adjourned for new date in the next week. A case against Shaukat Ali was also scheduled for hearing in which court recorded statements of the parties. Shaukat Ali is on bail nowadays.

Framing of charges against Humayon Rasheed was also adjourned for next week.

Final arguments and statements of the parties concerned in a case of smuggling against Rafique Ali were also rescheduled for next week.
