Gwadar Customs seizes non-duty paid aluminum sheets, mobile phones worth Rs 2.5m

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Gwadar team has seized a huge quantity of non duty paid aluminum sheets and mobile phones worth Rs 2.5 million.

According to detail, on a tip-off regarding possible smuggling of aluminum sheets, and mobile phones in Bar area, Gawadar Collector Saeed Jadoon constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Farooq Awan.

The team, during a search operation, intercepted a truck bearing registration number BL-4729 which was going from Gwadar to KarachiI. During the search, the customs team found 200 aluminum sheets and 100 Android mobile phones.

The team seized all items and truck which was being used to smuggle these goods and arrested two persons who were later identified as Yasir Ali and Badshah Khan, residents off Quetta. Source said that the value of the seized items is Rs 2.5 million in international market.

An FIR has been registered against the accused persons. Source said that this is the fifth raid during the month of August. Collector Gawadar Saeed Jadoon said that our team is showing excellent performance in curbing smuggling attempts in the region.
