Customs JIT to start probe into mega electronic scandal from today

KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs will start investigation into a mega smuggling case of electronic items from Monday (today).

A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) will kick off the investigations in pilferage of transshipment (TP) consignments by M/s K.K Metal Industry, which has head office outside Montgomery Bazaar, Circular Road, Faisalabad.

The sources in the Customs I&I Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) said that the JIT members are reaching Karachi on Monday (today). The officers from different sectors are also on board, they added.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the JIT comprised four member of the customs whereas another five members of the Pakistan Customs will extend their help to the JIT in the case.

Under the supervision of Additional Director Rawalpindi Abdul Waheed Marwat along with Deputy/Assistant Director (in-charge ASO), Karachi, Superintendent Saleemullah Khan as well as the Intelligence Officer Akmal Hashmi will be actively working over the leads.

The assisting team comprising  Deputy Director Afzal Ahmad Wattoo, Superintendent Tariq Rafiq, Intelligence Officers (IOs) Yawar Abbas, Hameed Bhatti of Lahore and Mohammad Saleem from Faisalabad and the team will be submitting the reports with regards to the investigation after every 15 days to Director General of Customs Intelligence.
