Islamabad ASO takes into possession smuggling dry fruits, spices & vehicle

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad impounded various kinds of smuggling dry fruits and spices along with an offending vehicle (Vehicle used for carrying smuggled goods) worth Rs2.724million on GT Road en route from Rawalpindi to Peshawar.

According to details explained by Deputy Collector Ansir Anees while talking with Customs Today that the Customs staff of the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad intercepted a Mazda truck with registration No: LES-1816 loaded with a big quantity of different kinds of dry fruits on its way from Rawalpindi to Peshawar.
A thorough search of the above said vehicle led to the recovery of 5,400 kilogram of cumin valued at Rs1.134million while ASO confiscated 1,260 kilogram of almond priced at Rs0.264million and did 150 kilogram of Pista Giri worth Rs0.0315million and seized 400 kilogram of cashew Kernal valued at Rs0.294million. The impounded offending vehicle’s estimated value is Rs1.00million.
As the possessor of dry fruits and spices failed to produce any documentary proofs of the legal or lawful possession of the recovered smuggling goods, the ASO took into possession the vehicle and said items and deposited them into state ware house for further investigation.
