SHC seeks remarks from customs dept on plea seeking release of Toyota Surf

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed customs authorities to file their respective comments on a constitutional petition filed by Muhammad Usman Shah son of Muhammad Ibrahim, seeking release order of Toyota Surf bearing registration number BF-8439.

According to the details, a two-member bench, headed by Justice Munib Akhtar was hearing the petition. During the hearing, counsel for the customs department seeks time to file comments therefore, court adjourned the matter for August 30, 2017.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that he is lawful owner of Toyota Surf bearing registration number BF-8439 seized by customs officials. He further informed the court that he produced all the legal documents before concerned authorities, however, officials of the customs department refused release order of his vehicle.

Citing Secretary Ministry of Finance, Customs Collectorate and others as respondents, he pleaded the court to direct them to release order of his vehicle immediately and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner.
