KARACHI: The Custom Exports continues sending notices against tax defaulters during the first week of September.
Sources told Customs Today that the Customs Exports has issued show cause notices to defaulter factories including M/s Shamim Traders Karachi, M/s W. W. Garments and Company Karachi and M/s Sadaf Enterprises Hyderabad to pay the evaded taxes.
M/s Shamim Traders Karachi used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of handicraft items and other things cleared during the last week of August and caused a loss of Rs 1.22 million to the national treasury.
During the scrutiny of the import data, the Customs Exports team detected that the company used wrong PCT heading for which it was issued a show-cause notice No: 206/2017 to pay the evaded amounts of tax and duty.
Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion done by M/s W W garments and company Karachi who got cleared a consignment of Latha fabrics. The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, issued a show cause notice to the company and asked them to deposit the evaded tax amounts within fortnight.
M/s Sadaf Enterprises Hyderabad used the wrong PCT heading to get a consignment of leather wallets ladies purse, clash, and long coat which were cleared during the starting of August and caused the government kitty a loss of Rs2.8 million.
It is necessary to mention here that, during the last month of August, the Customs Exports has issued sixteen show cause notices and seven final notices to the tax evaders warning them to clear the outstanding tax amount at the earliest to avoid stern action.
