Customs Court grants bail to accused involved in white spirit smuggling case

MULTAN: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted bail to two accused who are involved in smuggling of white spirit case and rejected the bail of main accused.

According to details, Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) has produced accused Jameel Ahmad and Nazeer Hussain before Customs Court. Third accused Waseem Shehzad was on pre-arrest bail and its counsel has submitted arguments.

It is important to mention that Anti-Smuggling Organization has detected the network involved in the smuggling of white spirit in South Punjab region by seizing 60,000 liters.

During action of Anti-Smuggling Organization two accused Jameel Ahmad and Nazeer Hussain were arrested. Accused Waseem Shehzad was nominated as prime suspect in the smuggling case by Customs Investigation and Prosecution after probing them.

Accused Waseem Shehzad also claimed ownership of seized White Spirit and he has taken interim bail from Customs court after interrogation report of Investigation and Prosecution teams to avoid arrest from Multan Customs.

Customs Court Judge Sardar Tahir Sadiq has granted bail to accused Jameel Ahmad, Nazeer Hussain and rejected bail of Waseem Shehzad on the basis of presented evidences from Multan Customs. After rejection of bail in white Spirit case, accused Waseem Shehzad fled away from Customs Court to avoid his arrest.
