Indian smuggling red chillies along with two loaders taken into possession by Islamabad ASO

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad impounded Indian smuggling red chillies along with two offending vehicles (Vehicle used for carrying smuggling goods) worth Rs3.89million.

According to details given by Assistant Collector ASO Islamabad Majid Hussain Gadd while talking with Customs Today that, on a tip-off shared by Dr. Saeed Khan Jadoon, Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad, two trucks loaded with Indian origin red chillies are due to enter into the jurisdiction of MCC Islamabad.
The ASO squad set up a picket near 26 No: Chungi, GT Road, Rawalpindi and intercepted a Hino loader with registration No: TKH-227 and an Isuzu truck with registration No: Z-7192-Peshawar. The ASO staff asked the possessor to show the documents of the legal import of the item but the owner of Indian smuggling item failed to produce any documentary proofs.
The ASO staff took into possession the chillies along with the offending vehicle under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act-1969. One impounded truck was loaded with 3,690 kilogram of seized Indian origin red chillies priced at Rs2.09million while the other one carried 4,200 kilogram Indian red chillies valued at Rs0.14million.
A case has been registered against the possessors of Indian origin red chillies and offending vehicles. The case has also been forwarded to the Investigation and Prosecution Department for further action.
