North Region outperforms by collecting Rs1354.16m taxes from July 1 to September 14

ISLAMABAD: The Customs North Region, comprising four collectorates including MCC Islamabad, MCC Samberial, MCC Peshawar and MCC Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), collected Rs1354.16million extra revenue of all duties and taxes from July to 14th of September Financial Year (FY) 2017-18 against the collection of same period of corresponding period FY16-17 under all heads.

The North Region generated Rs7001.54million under all heads during above said period of FY17-18 while it did Rs5647.38million during the same period of previous year FY16-17 of all duties and taxes.
According to details explained by sources of the North Region that performance of the North is satisfactory during above said period under all heads but performance of the MCC GB showed decline due to some new weight changes per container.
The sources told CT that, during said period, the MCC Islamabad showed 10.95 % increase against the corresponding period in collection under all heads. The MCC Islamabad received Rs2832.69million during FY17-18 against the collection of Rs2255.42million during the same period of FY16-17.
During FY17-18, the MCC Peshawar showed 8.74% increase against previous year of FY16-17. During July to 14th of September FY17-18, the MCC Peshawar got Rs3842.02million under all heads against the collection of Rs2868.95million during the same period of FY16-17 under all heads.
During above said period, the MCC Samberial paid Rs-472.50million of rebate funds while it paid Rs-446.52million of rebate funds on exports during the same period of FY16-17. Sources told CT that Samberial paid-43.16% of more refunds during said period against the corresponding period FY16-17.
The MCC GB earned Rs799.33million under all heads during FY17-18 whereas it did Rs969.53million during the same period of FY 16-17. The GB showed -9.16% of decline in the collection against corresponding period.
