LAHORE: Customs Preventive team deputed at General Post Office (GPO) foiled bid to smuggle 500 tablets of a banned drug from Holland.
The official sources told Customs Today that the customs team searched a parcel arrived from Holland and recovered drugs in the name of Jally Candy worth millions of rupees.
The Customs Preventive team said that one Akhatar Ali from Netherland sent the parcel of Jally Candy containing banned drugs. It was said that there were 500 tables of the banned drug in the parcel in addition to Jally Candy.
The customs authorities said that the parcel was sent on the address of one Rana Ijaz. The customs authorities have started further investigations in to the matter after registering a case in this regard.
Last month, Customs GPO impounded a parcel of artificial cocaine worth Rs 3 million sent from Brazil. The customs authorities said that the cocaine was tactfully hidden in a sandwich maker. The sources said that on suspicion the customs authorities opened the parcel and recovered 230 grams of artificial cocaine.
The drug was sent from Brazil on an address of one Musa, a resident of Bedian Road Lahore. The customs authorities registering a case have started further investigation.
It was said that a team has been constituted by the Customs Investigation and prosecution department will start raiding to arrest the elements involved in the crime.
