About 40 offending, NDP vehicles & other smuggling items taken into possession during two-and-a-half months

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad impounded 33 offending and seven Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles and other various smuggling goods worth Rs73.179million during the two months and 15 days (1st July to 15th September) Financial Year FY2017-18.

According to details given by Majid Hussain Gadd, Assistant Collector ASO, that, during above said period, Islamabad ASO showed a satisfactory performance against the smugglers and tax evaders.
He said that, during 1st July to 15th September FY17-18, the ASO took into possession 33 offending and seven NDP vehicles prices at Rs41.100million and Rs13.14million respectively. The ASO also seized 16,571 kg of foreign origin smuggling cloths valued at Rs9.84million, 45,472-kg food grain worth Rs5.91million, 4,136 kilogram of tea priced at Rs1.23million, 452 tyres and tubes valued at Rs1.503million, 7,359-kg of auto-parts worth Rs5.80million and 146 ally rims valued at Rs0.05million.
Assistant Collector told CT that, during above said period, the ASO also confiscated 690 packs of foreign origin fake cigarettes priced at Rs0.588million whereas it seized 5,914 numbers of electronic items valued at Rs14.79million. The ASO Islamabad also impounded 300 smuggling blankets worth Rs0.094million and did 4,392 numbers of toys priced at Rs0.421million.
