Multan Customs to interrogate suspect involved in gold smuggling through parcel

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs decided to interrogate the suspect involved in gold smuggling through parcel from General Post Office.

According to details, Multan Customs authorities seized various gold biscuits of 8 tola packed in a courier parcel coming from China to Multan. Customs team deputed at General Post Office (GPO) seized gold biscuits of 8 tolas which were hidden in a parcel during intelligence base operation.

Investigation and Prosecution branch (I&P) branch of Multan Customs has taken completed information regarding the ownership of parcel from General Post Office and they have decided to include suspect Shahid Furqan in gold smuggling investigation. The Model Customs Collectorate Multan has also done forensic examination of seized gold.

Customs teams were informed that Shahid Furqan has done visits of China three times and gold has been purchased online from China and its payment were also paid through internet banking. Customs is also checking previous record of coming goods from China  after this detection Customs team have formed the questionnaire to probe Shahid Furqan in this case. The seized gold has been in the custody of General Post Office and Multan Customs will soon apply for its after submission of seizure report to Customs Adjudication.
