KARACHI: Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry elects its new team of office bearers for one-year period of 2017-18; with Junaid Esmail Makda as President, Daroo Khan Achakzai and Faiz Muhammad Faizi as Senior Vice President and Vice President respectively.
The new managing committee comprises of Zubair Motiwala, Junaid Makda, Daroo Khan Achakzai, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, Faiz Muhammad, Haji Abdul Qayyum Kakar, Talat Mahmood, Qazi Zahid Hussain, Niaz Muhammad, Imtiaz Ahmad, Jawed Akhtar Bhatti, Haris Agar, Azra Jamshed and Huma Waheed, says press release on Thursday.
The retiring members included Jawaid Bilwani, Haji Jamaluddin, Moin Malik, Dureshawar Nisar, Nylla Parveen Junejo, Khalid Shahzad and Shahid Ismail.
Chairman PAJCCI, Zubair Motiwala welcomed the new team and showed confidence that PAJCCI would be better equipped to play more active role for promoting trade between the two neighbouring countries. He said the Chamber had been successful in managing certain lacunas. However, this joint trade body of Pakistan and Afghanistan would have to take more efforts to achieve its objectives.
He mentioned that tariff disparity was incentivizing parallel trade. Hence, it was important for PAJCCI to advocate appropriate tariff rationalization along with strengthening confidence building measures.
