Customs Preventive Lahore aborts currencies’ smuggling attempt into China

LAHORE: Pakistan Customs Preventive of the Allama Iqbal International Airport foiled smuggling of foreign currencies into China.

It was known through a high official of Pakistan Customs, an attempt of currencies’ smuggling was thwarted by a team when they checked a passenger. The customs found some foreign currencies in the luggage of the accused. About 1,500 American dollars and 10,000 Yuan were recovered from accused Shahid Waqas. Shahid Waqas is a resident of Lahore. He was travelling by Shaheen Airlines from Lahore to Guangzhou, China.

The Customs Investigation and Prosecution team had presented him before the court and asked for his physical remand for further investigation. The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling approved a three-day physical remand of the accused.

The Customs Court Special Judge, Tahir Sabir, has ordered the investigation team to present him before the court on 19th of October for further proceedings.

The customs has registered a case against the accused and launched an investigation as well after confiscating currencies. The customs authorities have registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
