FBR asked to announce Dec 31 as new date for filing of tax returns

LAHORE: October  31 tomorrow will be the last date for filing of income tax return while the business community and tax practioners have urged the FBR to extend the date for filing return to upto December 31.

The FBR would keep all his Regional Tax Office open till 12am on October 31.  On the other hand, the Board has ordered all the chief commissioners, commissioners to make it possible being in coordination with adjacent branches of National Bank of Pakistan for duty and taxes collection. The NBP branches nominated to collect duty and taxes would also remain open till 12 pm on October 31.

However on the other hand business community and tax practioners demanded extension in date of filing return till Decenber 31, 2017 for achieving revenue collection target and broadening of tax net.

LCCI President Tahir Javaid Malik has said that extending date for filing tax return is beneficial for the Federal Board of Revenue to make a big total.

LCCI former Vice President Kashif Anwer said that extension in date for filing income tax return by December 31st will enable the FBR not achieve the revenue target but also to extend tax base. It is necessary to mention here that all the four chambers of country demanding Federal Board of Revenue to extend the last date of filing of income tax returns.
