Only 70pc taxpayers file tax returns till now as IRIS system hits snags

KARACHI: As taxpayers are visiting the offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in a large number due to the shortage of time to file their tax returns, it jammed and halted the IRIS (Integrated Risk Information System) several times.

Sources told Customs Today, that till now only 70 percent taxpayers have filed tax returns on time whereas 30 percent has to file the tax returns. Sources said that if the period of filing the tax returns is enhanced, the FBR will be able to collect more taxes.
