KARACHI: As taxpayers are visiting the offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in a large number due to the shortage of time to file their tax returns, it jammed and halted the IRIS (Integrated Risk Information System) several times.
Sources told Customs Today, that till now only 70 percent taxpayers have filed tax returns on time whereas 30 percent has to file the tax returns. Sources said that if the period of filing the tax returns is enhanced, the FBR will be able to collect more taxes.
The sources have confirmed that the Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has already written the letter to the chairman of the FBR for extending the period for filing the tax returns.
