Additional Collector order for confiscation of Toyota Crown

LAHORE: Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Zahra Haider has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) No. 26/2017 in favour of Customs Anti Smuggling Organization.

Brief facts of the case that Customs Anti Smuggling Organization received credible information that a white colored Toyota Crown plying on the roads of the city. The ASO team intercepted the above mentioned vehicle bearing registration no:BED-831 (Karachi). The person, available on the driving seat introduced himself as Mirza Abid Baig son of Mirza Masood Baig.

The ASO team asked the driver to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but the owner of the vehicle failed to produce any relevant legal documents. After his failure Customs ASO team impounded the vehicle and after registering a case of non duty paid vehicle against the owner forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.

During proceedings in Customs Adjudication, Additional Collector Zahra Haider issued several show cause notices to the above mentioned accused person asking him to appear in person and explain his point of view but he remained failed to appear in the Customs Adjduication. The laboratory test of the vehicle also proved as it showed that its chassis number are found as tempered.

After examining the whole case thoroughly Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Zahra Haider issued Order in Original in favour of Customs Anti Smuggling Organization by declaring the seizure of non duty paid vehicle as legal.

It is necessary to mention here that  Customs Adjudication has already expedited its efforts to conclude the hearing of the pending cases on priority basis.
