LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned a case of mobile phones’ smuggling for next Friday. Earlier, the court approved the post-arrest bail pleas of the accused apprehended in mobiles’ smuggling case.
Accused Abdul Waheed and Agha Wali were held by the customs intelligence authorities from The Mall. The bail pleas of the accused were granted by customs judge Shakeel Ahmad against the cash guarantee of Rs500000 each. On Thursday during proceeding of the case, the court ordered the investigation team to complete the challan as soon as possible so that court can reach the conclusion.
Earlier, the customs intelligence and investigation team had presented them before the customs court for getting their physical remand to investigate more on the issue.
Both accused Agha Wali and Abdul Waheed were supplying mobile phones to some traders of Hall Road which is the largest mobile phones market of Punjab.
They were apprehended when customs intelligence team had intercepted them on The Mall and recovered a big quantity of mobile phones of different brands. The customs intelligence recovered 324 mobile phones worth over Rs6million in the local market.
During a search of the car, customs intelligence found mobile phones that were being smuggled.
The customs has registered a case against the accused and launched an investigation as well after confiscating the cell phones.
The customs authorities registered the case against them under the Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
