KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Environment Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani has urged upon the industrialists to play their due role to implement the legal bindings of installations of combined effluent treatment plant in industrial zones.
This he said while holding a meeting with industrial zones head including Zubair Motiwala, Jawed Bilwani, Irfan Ahmed, Salim Parekh, Babar Khan, said a statement on Wednesday.
Secretary Environment Baqaullah Unar, Director Environment Waqar Ahmed Phulpoto and field officer of the department were also present during the meeting.
Addressing the meeting the Minister Environment has said that the field officers should pay visits to the industries and ensure the implementation of environment laws and in this regard no any negligence would be tolerated.
He also directed them to have liaison with industrialists to achieve the desired results and targets.
He further said that we all should come forward for better and friendly environment and atmosphere to fully support for ensuring the installation of plant with the help of industrialists and devise a proper mechanism for implementing the target.
He said that though now department has been extended with its scope and responsibilities but we should act as pet law and rules accordingly.
The Secretary Environment Baqaullah Unar also spoke and said that the field officers are responsible for ensuring environment laws and implement the same with honesty and aware the concerned about laws and regulations. They are liable to impose penalties and fines if any one violate the law accordingly.
Zubair Motiwala and other industrialists while giving assurance in the matter said that they are ready to implement the required laws and plant but firstly to sit together to prioritize the things than move for collective efforts to achieve the same.
Data of industries would be shared to identified the violating and follow the laws as per law and on one page would move forward positively.
It was also decided that seminar will be organized to aware the stakeholders and presentation will also be made in this regard.
