Customs Court grants bail to suspect booked in mega sales tax fraud case

KARACHI: The Customs Taxation & Anti-Smuggling Court judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi granted interim pre-arrest bail to suspect namely Noman-uz-zaman Siddiqui son of Saddiqu-uz-Zaman Siddiqui, who was booked in a case of mega sales tax fraud case.

During the hearing, counsel for the accused person appeared before the court along with his counsel who moved petition for bail, counsel argued that his client is innocent and was falsely implicated in this case, his client is ready to face trail, therefore, court may grant his bail till final judgment in the same case.

After his arguments, court granted pre-arrest bail to Noman-uz-Zaman Siddiqui son of Saddiqu-uz-Zaman Siddiqui against the surety of Rs3,00,000 and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing.

Court also issued notices to the customs officials and special prosecutor for customs department and directing them to file their respective para wise comments on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, first information report was lodged against above mentioned suspect and others for violation of sales tax act and other sections.

It needs to be pertained here that when first information report was produced before the court said suspect was absconder, now he came to court for bail before arrest.
