Customs GPO foils bid to smuggle Rs 1.6m cannabis on Thursday

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive deputed at General Post Office (GPO) foiled a bid to smuggle cannabis worth Rs1.6 million.

Sources told Customs Today, that Customs Preventive Superintendent Nayyar Sultan and Inspector Mazharul Haq on suspicion intercepted a parcel booked from Canada.

Sources told that Customs team detained the parcel and started their investigation after registering a case of smuggling to find out motives behind this move.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Preventive Collector Faiz Ahmad directed all anti smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling. He directed to all the field collectorates to use all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region.

Sources told that due to effective strategy adopted by Collectorate of Customs Preventive there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts.
